Ars Nova Images is a one person operation. I have a dedicated studio in my home, and don’t pay any lease or equipment rental fees. I’m able to pass on these savings to my clients without sacrificing personal attention or quality. Additionally, our services are priced ala carte so you don’t pay for anything that you don’t need or want.

Convenience, flexibility and fast service

Ars Nova Images is conveniently located in Capitol Hill, right by the Navy Yard Metro(free street parking is also available). I will work with you to schedule the most convenient time, including lunch hours, evenings, or weekends. I provide you with the fully edited and retouched files the same day as the shoot. I’m often able to accommodate last minute ‘emergency’ shoots, my fastest turn around to date is one hour- from phone call to fully edited headshot.

Digital editing on every photo

I’m a firm believer in developing the digital negative, and that’s why I do basic editing on every single photo you choose. The ‘digital negative’ can be developed either in the camera(by tweaking camera settings) or on the computer where the photographer has much more control over the final product. I adjust overall color, contrast, sharpness and finally skin tone. I spend a great amount of time getting these settings just right for each client. The difference is striking.

Natural retouching

I also offer professional retouching, anything from simple blemish removal to a full glamour treatment. However I always keep the image natural looking and never resort to a heavy handed ‘dreamy blur’ treatment. Retouching can also include, glare removal from glasses, stray hair removal, wrinkle softening, teeth whitening, eye enhancements. All of my packages include one retouch completely free, and you always have the option of having other photos retouched at a later date.

Order prints directly from your online gallery

I’ve made it incredibly easy for you order your own prints directly from your online gallery. This is a free service that I offer as a convenience to my clients. Your gallery is linked up with one of the most highly rated online printing services, simply add your desired photos to your cart, select your sizes and your photos will be mailed directly to you. I’ve already customized the settings to deliver the highest quality photos, so you don’t have to worry.

FAQ

Why don’t you offer every image on a CD after a headshot session, like some other photographers?

A few reasons for this. As I mentioned above, I edit every image from the session- this is to give you the very best quality images. It is also a huge time saver for the client to reduce all of the shots down to the very best photos from the session. We choose these keeper photos together right after our photo session. I also offer a free retouch on one photo of your choice.  In almost all cases you will still get the edited and retouched photos the same day as your shoot(usually withing just a few hours). I put them online on a private album where you can download the full resolution files.

What should I wear?

Clothing choice is important and should reflect the type of headshot you are getting(business, model, actor etc). The camera picks up everything so make sure your clothing is stain free, wrinkle free and fits comfortably.

What should I bring with me?

Bring a brush or a comb and touch up makeup if you wear makeup.
